It sounds like one of Arrow‘s new additions could be bringing quite a bit of trouble.

In a recent interview with TVLine, Arrow executive producer Wendy Mericle teased the arrival of Samandra Watson, an FBI agent played by Sydelle Noel (GLOW, Black Panther). As she explained, bringing her character into the fold will complicate Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell) keeping his Green Arrow identity secret.
“Oliver is going to be in some hot water, in a way we haven’t seen before.” Mericle revealed. “And Samandra Watson is going to be spearheading that cause. She’s going to get very close to the truth about what Oliver has been up to.”
This balance between Oliver’s private and public persona is set to factor quite a bit into Arrow’s upcoming sixth season. As Mericle told ComicBook.com earlier this year, Oliver’s attempts to cover up his Green Arrow activities in his role as Star City mayor will become increasingly complicated.
“The mayor’s office has gotten really good at covering up all that stuff, but it’s a good question.” Mericle explained. “I think we’ll be able to find story ways to skirt past that, but it highlights what’s going to be a central question for season 6, which is, how can he do both? We’ve played with that in the past in different ways before, but I think that the success of what he’s done in the mayor’s office and his ability to have impact is going to raise those stakes to a different level and hopefully create some great stories.”
Before that conundrum begins, Arrow‘s sixth season will have quite a bit to address. The aftermath of season five’s earth-shattering cliffhanger will be revealed, in a premiere that is said to ‘hit the ground running’. The show will also dive into Slade Wilson/Deathstroke’s (Manu Bennett) quest to find his son, as well as the heavily-speculated identity of Vigilante.
Arrow premieres on Thursday, October 12 at 9 p.m. ET/PT on The CW.
