The Batman community suffered a heartfelt loss last weekend in Adam West, who brought the dark knight to life on the beloved Batman television series. The good news is that fans will get to see his take on the character once more in the upcoming Batman vs. Two-Face animated feature.

West and Burt Ward voiced their iconic characters in Batman: Return of the Caped Crusaders, an animated film set in the same universe as the original series. A sequel was already in development, but some have wondered if it could move forward after West’s death. As 13th Dimension confirmed with WB, it appears it can, as West had already finished recording his dialogue for the project before he passed.
The new film will focus on Batman and Robin’s battle with Two-Face, who never actually appeared on the original television series. Fans will hopefully see the first footage from the movie at San Diego Comic-Con, a project that also stars William Shatner as Two-Face as well as Ward reprising the part of Robin. No release date has been announced yet.
West died at the age of 88 years old from a battle with Leukemia over the weekend.
You can find the official description for Batman: Return Of The Caped Crusaders below.
It’s back to the 1960s as Batman and Robin spring into action when Gotham City is threatened by a quartet of Batman’s most fiendish foes โ Penguin, The Joker, Riddler and Catwoman. The four Super-Villains have combined their wicked talents to hatch a plot so nefarious that the Dynamic Duo will need to go to outer space (and back) to foil their arch enemies and restore order in Gotham City. It’s a truly fantastic adventure that will pit good against evil, good against good, evil against evil โฆ and feature two words that exponentially raise the stakes for both sides: Replicator Ray. Holy Multiplication Tables!
The film features the vocal performances of Adam West (Batman), Burt Ward (Robin) and Julie Newmar (Catwoman). It also includes Jeff Bergman as the Joker, William Salyers as The Penguin, Wally Wingert as The Riddler, Lynne Marie Stewart as Aunt Harriett, Jim Ward as Commissioner Gordon, and Sirena Irwin as TV show host Miranda Moore.
Batman: Return of the Caped Crusaders is available now.
