Dark Knights will introduce several nightmare versions of Batman, including one that takes after a certain scarlet speedster.

The Dark Multiverse version of Flash is called The Red Death and gets a darker red suit with a meshing of Batman and Flash’s symbols. His face is fully covered though and doesn’t really give off that go lucky friend vibe that Flash typically exudes.

In the new preview of Batman: The Red Death #1, a version of the traditional Flash can be seen running through the streets. With his hand stretched outward, he narrowly dodges lightning, fire, and shards of ice. As he looks up, he sees Batman, but this Batman is not the one you’re used to.

He wears a similar costume, sure, but he is holding Captain Cold’s gun and wearing his goggles. That explains the ice, but he also holds Weather Wizard’s wand, explaining the lightning. As for the fire, he has another gun hanging from his belt, so that could be Heat Wave’s gun.

Fans have already met the Green Lantern of the Dark Multiverse, and you can expect a full roster of nightmare Batmans to make appearances.

“With names like The Red Death, The Murder Machine, The Dawnbreaker, The Drowned, The Merciless, The Devastator and The Batman Who Laughs, it’s pretty clear that these creatures mean business and prove just how dangerous the Dark Multiverse will be for DC’s heroes,” said Patrick McCallum, DC Entertainment Executive Editor.

Fans will meet the rest of the cast soon enough, but it definitely looks like the Justice League will have their hands full.

Batman: The Red Death #1 is written by Joshua Williamson with art by Carmine Di Giandomenico and a cover by Jason Fabok. You can find the book’s description below.
