Next year, Ben Affleck‘s Batman flick is expected to go into production. The superhero blockbuster will see the actor reprise his role as Gotham’s Knight, and he will be joined by a slew of other talent. Joe Manganiello will play Deathstroke in the movie, and Jeremy Irons is playing Bruce Wayne’s faithful butler Alfred. The latter actor will return in Zack Snyder’s Justice League, having debuted in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, and Irons is saying he will definitely be busier by the time Batman comes around.

The Batman UP NEXT: Jeremy Irons Talks Justice League, The Batman

Recently, CinemaBlend did an interview with Irons and asked about his role in Affleck’s Batman. This is what the actor had to say about Alfred and his place in the movie. “I have spoken to Ben. In Justice League, we have seven superheroes, and that means Alfred’s not that busy in the movie, and I said to Ben, ‘I hope I’m busier in yours.’ And he said to me, ‘You will be.’ He knows my proclivities.”

This isn’t the first time Irons has confirmed his character’s larger role in Batman. The actor told Variety much the same in an interview not long ago.

“Ben’s going to make a Batman film next summer. He promises me there’s going to be a bit more of Alfred in that,” the actor said. “In the Justice League we have seven major lead characters, and I’m the butler to one of them. It’s clear I will not be dominating that film,” he said.

The actor also took time to talk about how the butler will fit into Justice League since the ensemble flick is stuffed with talented actors. “Alfred is a stickler for staying the same,” he explained. “He tries to modulate everybody else. In a very gentle, English way he tries to deal with these people who can do all these extraordinary things in a very calm way, a very grounded way. He does not modulate at all. He sometimes lets Bruce Wayne out a bit on the lead, but he’s still attached.”

In Justice League, fueled by his restored faith in humanity and inspired by Superman’s selfless act, Bruce Wayne enlists the help of his newfound ally, Diana Prince, to face an even greater enemy. Together, Batman and Wonder Woman work quickly to find and recruit a team of metahumans to stand against this newly awakened threat. But despite the formation of this unprecedented league of heroesโ€”Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg and The Flashโ€”it may already be too late to save the planet from an assault of catastrophic proportions.
