In this matchup, we have Superman of the DC Universe taking on Captain Marvel of the Marvel Universe! We’ve laid out arguments for both sides in the video above, now it’s up to you to vote!

In the DC Comics corner: Superman is arguably the most iconic superhero in the history of the genre, not least of all because he’s where the whole idea started. Superman has permeated the popular culture so thoroughly that even those who have never picked up a comic book are likely familiar with the origin story of an infant alien sent to Earth by his parents to escape a dying world, and who was nurtured into adulthood by a kindly couple from Smallville.

Superman has a long list of superpowers, all born from how his Kryptonian physiology reacts to Earth’s yellow sun: superhuman strength, invulnerability, flight, superhuman speed, superhuman senses, heat vision, super-breath, and more.

Following recent events, the Man of Steel currently representing the shield and red cape is the Clark Kent of New Earth, the Earth of the pre-New 52 DC Universe who is married to Lois Lane and has a son, Jonathan.

Being the icon he is, Superman means a lot of things to a lot of people, giving fans plenty of reasons to vote for him in this contest.

In the Marvel Comics corner: Carol Danvers is an ex-Air Force pilot who was transformed by a Kree weapon into a superhero. She has gone by man titles in the past, including Ms. Marvel, Binary, and Warbird, but has now inherited the mantle of Captain Marvel.

Captain Marvel has an impressive suite of abilities, including enhanced strength and durability, flight, and the ability to fire concussive energy blasts from her hands. Additionally, she can absorb various kinds of energy and, if she absorbs enough, and “go Binary,” increasing her strength and capabilities exponentially.

Captain Marvel has served with the Avengers, the Starjammers, and the Guardians of the Galaxy. Currently, she heads up the Alpha Flight planetary defense force and leads the proactive, high-science superhero team called the Ultimates.

Since assuming the role of Captain Marvel, Carol Danvers has amassed a legion of fans collectively known as the Carol Corps. She’s counting on the Carol Corps to turn out en masse and give her the voting power she needs to win this battle.

So, dear reader, will be Superman or Captain Marvel? Make your choice and vote! And check back for more of ComicBook.com’s updated DC Versus Marvel matchups!
