The Walking Dead made its way into the top ten best-selling comics last month, meaning that Robert Kirkman had as many spots on the list as Marvel Comics did.

DC, still enjoying massive commercial and critical success for their Rebirth publishing initiative, took eight of the top ten spots, with the Dark Knight dominating. Batman #6 came in at the top of the charts, followed by All-Star Batman #2 at #2 and then Batman #7 at #3. Issues of Justice League appeared at #5 and #10 on the charts, with Trinity at #7, Supergirl at #8, and Suicide Squad at #9.
Marvel’s Civil War II #5 came in fourth, while The Walking Dead #158 was the only mature readers-only title in the top ten, coming in sixth.
More generally, DC was September’s top publisher with a 36.53% dollar share and a 43.45% unit share. Marvel Comics was the month’s number two publisher with a 31.40% dollar share and a 30.75% unit share. At number three was Image Comics with a 9.04% dollar share and a 8.80% unit share. IDW Publishing was fourth with a 4.60% dollar share and a 3.55% unit share, followed by Dark Horse Comics with a 3.23% dollar share and 2.43% units share.
DC wasn’t as dominant on the graphic novels and collected editions side, although they did take six of the top ten spots. The month’s best-selling trade paperback was actually The Walking Dead Volume 26: A Call To Arms, with Jill Thompson’s hardcover original graphic novel Wonder Woman: The True Amazonplacing at #2. Two volumes of Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo’s Batman came in at #3 and 4, with Batman: The Killing Joke at #8 and a pair of DC books — the latest trade Justice League and Harley Quinn trade paperbacks, closing out the top ten. Those middle three spots are occupied by The Fix Volume 1 from Image Comics at #5, Dark Horse’s Avatar: The Last Airbender Volume 13 at #6 and Marvel’s Secret Wars at #7.
