Joshua Williamson and Jason Shawn Alexander return this week with the second issue of their DC/Vertigo series Frostbite, a “post-post-apocalyptic” story that centers on a world in rebuilding after a new ice age nearly wiped out humanity.

“I didn’t want our story to be set in the days after the end of the world,” Williamson told ComicBook.com just prior to the release of the series’ first issue last month. “The events of Frostbite occur years after humanity has survived and rebuilt. There are massive cities where people are living and thriving. I’ve compared it to Mad Max in the snow but even that would be more wasteland-like than Frostbite. The world has been rebuilt while dealing with the new Ice Age and people have moved on…but then along comes a new threat: a deadly disease nicknamed…Frostbite.”

The series is the latest in a line of high-profile launches from Vertigo, including a rebooted Lucifer and the critically-acclaimed The Sheriff of Babylon by Tom King and Mitch Gerads.

Frostbite #2

The start of their journey did not go exactly as planned, but Keaton made a deal to get Vic to Alcatraz safely, and nothing will dissuade her from carrying out her contract. With their main transport knocked out, and roving gangs looking to block their path, Keaton and crew are going to have to get clever if they’re going to stay alive.
