Joe Karg’s artistic talents have been featured in a number of commercial projects, such as posters and illustration work for Judd Apatow and Friends, Amy Schumer, Marc Maron, and Comedy Central’s hit show Archer. In his off time, though, Karg loves the realm of geek culture as much as anyone else, and along with illustrator Chris Bivins has created some fantastic art set in some of your favorite universes.

His artwork is extremely expressive, seen in the anger and fury of his Dragon Ball Z and Pokemon pieces. Goku is rather angry about spilling his dinner all over the ground (and who wouldn’t be) and Pikachu just looks mad at the world. It probably has to do with being stuck in that Pokeball all the time.

Karg and Bivins also excel at creating inventive backdrops that many times are intertwined with the main character. Flash, for example, is rushing towards the viewer and the background seems to be coming out of his speed force aura, one that is also shaped liked his logo. Likewise, the backdrop of flames start underneath Jon Snow and swell to engulf the rest of page behind him. His art wouldn’t have the same impact without the vivid coloring, like the soft blues and pinks in Harry Potter and the green, pink, and red combination seen in the Link and Ganondorf piece.

You can view more of Karg’s work in the gallery, which includes favorite series like Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Harry Potter, The Nightmare Before Christmas, and Star Wars: Episode VII- The Force Awakens. Make sure to check out his official website for more from the talented artist, including prints from his online store. You can also find him on Twitter and Facebook.
