Joss Whedon To Skip San Diego Comic Con 2017

Last year’s San Diego Comic-Con held brand new footage from the anticipated Justice League, and fans were hoping to see stand-in director Joss Whedon present some new footage this year.

Unfortunately, that won’t be the case, something that is very rare in Whedon’s case. Whedon was recently in London for Justice League reshoots, where he ran into Mark Searby (via An English Man In San Diego). When Searby brought up Comic-Con Whedon said “I won’t be there. Only the second time in twenty years I won’t make it.”

While it will disappoint some, it makes sense why he isn’t attending. Justice League is at a critical juncture at the moment, with reshoots just completing and more work to be done in post to make the movie is at its best following the extremely successful Wonder Woman.

With Whedon stepping in for Zack Snyder due to a personal matter, Whedon just doesn’t have the time to do anything but focus on making this a success.

Justice League is directed by Zack Snyder, from a screenplay by Chris Terrio, and features an ensemble cast that includes Ben Affleck (Batman), Henry Cavill(Superman), Gal Gadot (Wonder Woman), Ezra Miller (The Flash), Jason Momoa (Aquaman), Ray Fisher (Cyborg), Ciarán Hinds (Steppenwolf), Amy Adams (Lois Lane), Diane Lane (Martha Kent), Jeremy Irons (Alfred Pennyworth), J.K. Simmons (Commissioner Gordon), Amber Heard (Mera), Kiersey Clemons (Iris West) and Jesse Eisenberg (Lex Luthor).

Wonder Woman is in theaters now, followed by Justice League on November 17, 2017; Aquaman on July 27, 2018; Shazam on April 5, 2019; Justice League 2 on June 14, 2019; Cyborg on April 3, 2020; and Green Lantern Corps on July 24, 2020. The Flash, The Batman, Dark Universe and Man of Steel 2 are currently without a release dates.
