This week, it was announced that Warner Bros. and DC Films are developing a Joker origin movie with Martin Scorsese and Todd Phillips (The Hangover). Ever since that announcement there’s been a ton of buzz for what this new Joker origin film means for DC movies and the DC Extended Universe; who will be the latest actor to play the role; and whether or not it’s a good idea, in general.

One of the more important people to weigh in on the subject is none other than Batman: The Animated Series and Batman: Arkham Asylum game series star Kevin Conroy, who happens to be a fan-favorite amongst the Batman fansbase.
Check out what Conroy had to say about the prospect of this new Joker movie to Hey U Guys:
“I think that will be a really interesting film. There is an episode of Batman: The Animated Series which dealt with that and told that story. It’s really interesting. I had not heard they were doing a film version of it but I hope that Mark [Hamill] gets it!”
Needless to say: Star Wars: The Last Jedi star Mark Hamill is almost certainly not going to be cast as the younger version of The Joker in the film – but one of these actors just might (Click link for details). As it stands, Hamill and Conroy are forever solidified in the Batman zeitgeist thanks to their iconic portrayals of the animated Joker and Batman (respectively), but this new film will require some new blood.
The setting and tone of the Joker origin film are described below; we’re still waiting to hear if the film is being planned and designed to fit an R-Rating. We’ll let you know more about the Joker origin movie as it develops.
You can next see Kevin Conroy’s Batman in Batman and Harley Quinn, which is currently available on Digital Download and will hit DVD/Blu-ray on August 29th.
