With the announcement that Green Lantern Corps now has a pair of screenwriters, it seems DC and Warner Bros. is finally starting to show some movement on its somewhat neglected property.

No official casting has even been announced yet, though there are rumors regarding Hal Jordan and John Stewart, and if recent reports are correct, those will be the main characters of the upcoming film. With that said, the Green Lantern Corps is rich with interesting characters, both human and alien in origin. Some of them were seen in the previous Green Lantern film, but like everything else regarding that film, they probably want to go in with a clean slate.

That being the case, here are the other Lanterns we would love to see hit the big screen in Green Lantern Corps.

Sinestro

You can’t have a Green Lantern Corps movie and not include their most storied nemesis, Sinestro.

Sinestro commands the power of fearย and believes that fear is the only way to lead. As a former member of the Green Lantern Corps and personal mentor to Hal Jordan, there’s an infinite amount of lore and history to work with, and he’s got a connection with not only Hal but also to the Guardians and his daughter Soranik Natu, who is also a Green Lantern.

One of the highlights of the original Green Lantern film was Mark Strong’s Sinestro, and hopefully, they’ll knock it out of the park once again.

Atrocitus

When Geoff Johns introduced the other Lantern Corps, he stumbled upon a fantastic new villain for the light of willpower in Atrocitus, and in recent years the character has only grown more popular.

Atrocitus is the leader of the Red Lantern Corps and is as imposing as his namesake would indicate. His mission is simple. He wants revenge for his people’s genocide, and if he can’t have it then everyone will feel the same rage he does.

Atrocitus isn’t just brute force, though, as he started out as a Psychologist before his family and people were murdered by the Manhunters. This would be a great way to introduce him to the general audience, with an event happening in the first film to transform him into the being of rage he is today, and then you have a villain for the next phase of the DCU.

Larfleeze

MINE!

Only a few Lanterns are immediately recognizable with just a lone word, and Larfleeze certainly fits that criteria.

The leader of the Avarice Lantern Corps embodies the emotion of Greed and covets the other rings of the emotional spectrum for himself. If you go into battle with Larfleeze’s army, you better not die, because all those killed by the Avarice Corps become servants of the orange light.

If you think battling is hard, try working for him.

Kryb

Green Lantern isn’t exactly filled with horror elements, but Kryb will make you second guess that quite quickly.

The character is a member of the Sinestro Corps, and just the sight of her is disturbing. She’s constantly hunched over with long teeth and creepy claws greeting you upon first glance. The reason she’s hunched over? That’s because her back is a makeshift crib, which makes sense once you know that she attaches Green Lanterns who have newborn children. After taking out the parents, she kidnaps theย kids and stores them.

Yeah, apologies for the nightmares.

Guy Gardner

How can you not include Guy Gardner when he’s the only reason the Green Lantern Corps knows what fun is.

The always fiery tempered and eager for action Lantern has always been popular and gives the team a constant injection of personality. He’s not the most subtle member of the Corps, and at times it feels the term “bull in a china shop” was created specifically for him, but if you’re going to bring the Corps together, it must include him.

You don’t bring a knife to a gun fight, you bring a Guy Gardner.

Ch’p

People have a love-hate relationship with humorousย or lovable sidekicks, but when they’re done well (Groot, Puss In Boots, K-2SO) they make the end product better. Luckily the Green Lantern Corps has one already built in, the lethal but adorable CH’P.

What you need to know?ย He’s an adorable Squirrel-like (don’t call them that, though) being that at one time wore Green Lantern overalls. Granted, he hasn’t done that for awhile, or anything really since he’s dead in the comics, but that doesn’t mean he can’t find new life in the film franchise.

Just do everyone a favor and keep the yellow trucks out of the plotline for awhile.

Iroque

Compared to the other Corps, the Indigo Tribe is the most mysterious, though a lot of that has to do with their origins.

The Indigo Tribe is made up of those who have committed great sins, with the light of compassion transforms them into mighty ring wielders capable of spreading that emotion throughout the galaxy. That kind of group demands a strong leader, and there are few stronger than Iroque.

Iroque also has the strongest ties to the Green Lantern Corps, as she was once apprehended by Abin Sur, the one who gave Hal Jordan his ring. Iroque was forced to confront her crimes after being exposed to the light of compassion and was the primary force that reconstructed the power battery after it was originally destroyed.

As a side note, is it too much to ask for her to be accompanied by Kreaven? No reason really other than its a cool visual, since he’s literally an Indigo Lantern Bird. Who wouldn’t want to see that?

Saint Walker

You’d be hard pressed to find someone who embodies their Lantern Corps more than Saint Walker.

His past is a testament to taking a loss and using it to inspire others, and it permeates everything he does. That’s why the Blue Lantern ring found him, and it’s a good thing it did. Saint Walker is the only reason that Hal Jordan isn’t a Red Lantern right about now. His design is also quite unique, allowing him to stand out amongst the other Lantern Corps as a constant beacon of hope.

ย

Carol Ferris

The mostย identifiable member of the Star Sapphire Corps is Carol Ferris, who you might know as Hal Jordan’s on and off again love interest in both the comics and in the previous Green Lantern film.

The character deserves to be known for more than that, however, and putting her front and center in a Green Lantern Corps film would be a great way to do that. When Carol was first inducted into the Corps, using her power would result in an altering of her mind, something the other members of the Corps also struggled with. Carol’s work was a big reason why the leaders changed their process, crafting Power Rings instead of raw crystals, which allows users to maintain their personalities. This growth and knack for leadership should be a big part of any depiction of the character when she graces film again.

Kyle Rayner

Hindsight has been quite kind to Kyle Rayner, who was introduced at a rather volatile time for the franchise in the comics. He was taking over for the icon Green Lantern Hal Jordan, so it makes sense that he wouldn’t be necessarily received with open arms. Over time though he has become a fan favorite, and to some he is the best Green Lantern.

He’s also become the torchbearer, being responsible for the reigniting the light of the Green Lanterns and allowing them to survive when all was lost. He’s since transformed again into the White Lantern of Life, and these are all compelling reasons for him to be included in the cinematic Lantern Corps.

Warth

This one is purely superficial in many ways, but it would make for an incredibly compelling visual, so hear it out.

Imagine a portal opens and out comes Saint Walker, leader of the Hope Corps. That’s enough of a surprise, but then out comes the imposing and charming figure aknown as Warth.

Warth is alien in nature, but he resembles the Hindu god of success Ganesha, which has some elephant life traits in the long trunk and large ears. Either way, he’s Saint’s right-hand man, and how often do you get to design an alien that looks like an Elephant for a superhero film?ย

Soranik Natu

As Sinestro’s daughter, there is already enough there to at least introduce the character into the cinematic mythos, but the good news is that her potential doesn’t end there.

Soranik did not believe in her father’s leadership methods on their home planet, and so became a member of the Green Lantern Corps. She served alongside Hal and Kyle and even developedย a relationship with Kyle at one point. When her father was nearing death (supposedly), Soranik took on the ring of fear and led the Yellow Lantern Corps into a new age, protecting instead of causing destruction.

Despite Sinestro’s treachery, the character has always fought for what she thinks is right,ย regardless of what Corps she happens to be a part of. She’s an incredible fighter who doesn’t hesitate to show compassion and could be one of the premier female characters in DC’s cinematic universe.
