Fans of The CW‘s Legends of Tomorrow have known for a bit now that the villain Damien Darhk would be returning and not just picking up from where things left off with the end of the Legion of Doom. It was revealed earlier this summer that the Damien Darhk (Neal McDonough) that would trouble the Legends in season three would be coming from after his death at the hands of Oliver Queen in Arrow‘s fourth season.

The idea of Damien Darhk returning after death has been more than a little confusing for Legends fans, but as we saw with Kuasa’s resurrection at the end of the season premiere, someone can raise the dead for their own, nefarious purposes. Add to that this week’s episode, “Return of the Mack” marking the introduction of Damien’s adult daughter, Eleanor (Courtney Ford) a way around something as pesky as death may have just revealed itself: is Damien Darhk’s daughter Eleanor the Time Trapper?
How would that work? Who is the Time Trapper? Read on. We have you covered for why we think Eleanor Darhk might just be the ticket to her dad’s return and a whole lot of chaos for the Legends.
Eleanor Darhk
Arrowverse fans last saw Damien Darhk’s little girl in the fourth season of Arrow. At the time she was simply called “Nora” and was just a child, somewhere around eight or ten years old and her fate and whereabouts following the death of both her mother and father were left unexplored.
With Nora being a child around 2016, it would put her in her thirties in 2042, the year the Legends visited in “Zari.” While we have no direct connection to Eleanor in 2042, the fact that the team brought Zari from that future and onto the team may provide an explanation as to why the team will encounter an adult Nora, now going by Eleanor Darhk. She may also be moving around time.
And we do know that Eleanor will be causing trouble for the Legends as an adult. She’s been described as very much like her father and Ray Palmer (Ford’s real-life husband Brandon Routh) will find himself unexplainably attracted to her. If she’s a grown woman moving around time, it would make sense that she would want to cause trouble for the Legends, too. After all, they’re connected to her father’s demise.
The Time Trapper
While we’ve explored the possibility that Legends of Tomorrow has revealed the existence of the Time Trapper during the season premiere and gone a little bit into who the character is in comics. the possibility of Eleanor Darhk being the Time Trapper is one worth considering.
Time Trapper’s primary power is a vast control of time itself. What does that mean? It means that the Time Trapper can literally do anything they want to do with time, including continuously altering it in order to keep themselves from dying or even bending time to bring people back from — or send them to — their death. It also means that they would have the ability to break and control time as they see fit, which could mean that the anachronisms the Legends are dealing with this season might have deeper roots than just the team “breaking” time.
With Damien Darhk’s primarily being Dark Magic derived from the Khushu Idol, the idea that Eleanor might have her own set of magic-like powers — ones that allow her to control time itself — wouldn’t be too far a stretch. And if she can control time, why wouldn’t she use that power to bring the father she lost as a child back to life?
John Constantine and “Daddy Darhkest”
Showrunner Marc Guggenheim recently shared the script cover for Legends of Tomorrow‘s tenth episode entitled “Daddy Darhkest,” complete with John Constantine’s (Matt Ryan) red tie and cigarette superimposed on it. The episode marks the first of two episodes Constantine will appear in and it just so happens that Eleanor Darhk is set to appear in the episode as well. Both of these appearances are telling considering that Damien Darhk returns in “Daddy Darhkest.”
While we don’t yet know what to expect in “Daddy Darhkest,” it’s worth noting that on Arrow, Constantine — himself a master sorcerer — didn’t dare face Damien Darhk because of how skilled the villain is with Dark Magic and Legends executive producer Phil Klemmer has confirmed that Constantine’s appearance revisits Arrow‘s fourth season. If Eleanor is the Time Trapper and is planning to bring her father back, Constantine might just be there to lend a hand to the Legends to stop her before unleashing two massively powerful Darhk’s onto the world and the fabric of time itself.
