That being said, director James Mangold definitely knows what it takes to make a great superhero film. He may not make another one anytime soon, but – like Christopher Nolan – the guy has earned hero-status in the eyes of fans.

So, needless to say, Mangold’s opinion is one to trust when it comes to the superhero movie genre. While there may be a lot of controversy surrounding the upcoming DC film, The Batman, Mangold believes the movie is in great hands.

On Twitter, a fan asked Mangold if he would ever do a Dark Knight Returns movie, after he did such a great job with Logan. The director immediately replied, saying Matt Reeves was the right man for the job.

James Mangold has faith in The Batman, do you?

Logan is now playing in theaters across the globe. If you’ve had a chance to see the movie, be sure to give it a score on our ComicBook Movie Database below!

Logan takes place in the year 2024, where mutant births have become extremely rare. The defenders of mutant kind, the X-Men, are long gone, and the only remains of them are an old and struggling Charles Xavier and a weary Logan. Logan’s vaunted healing factor has slowed, and at times doesn’t seem to work at all. When a young mutant needs his help, Logan has to unsheathe his claws once more. His job isn’t over yet.

Logan stars Hugh Jackman (Logan), Boyd Holbrook (Donald Pierce), Patrick Stewart (Charles Xavier), Dafne Keen (Laura Kinney/X-23), Doris Morgado (Maria), Stephen Merchant (Caliban), Elizabeth Rodriguez (Gabriela), and Richard E. Grant (Dr. Zander Rice). James Mangold is directing and helped on the screenplay along with Scott Frank and Michael Green.
