Shortly after she made her first on-screen appearance as the “Green Fury,” Poweless actress Natalie Morales tweeted out a photo of herself in wardrobe, announcing that she had started “her run” on the NBC sitcom.

…Of course, one thing that people might notice there is the idea that she’s got a “run,” or several episodes, rather than just this one appearance. Does that mean she might actually end up as a potential love interest for Danny Pudi’s Teddy?

Oh, and what’s the deal with her looking exactly like the DC Comics heroine Fire, having the same power set, and even a costume that resmbles one of the versions Fire wore during her years in the Justice League?

On that last point, Morales had an answer: “We…address it,” she tweeted in response to an inquiry. “Stay tuned.”

Beatriz Bonilla da Costa (Natalie Morales) – a.k.a. Green Fury – was introduced in the episode’s opening minutes, after saving Teddy (Danny Pudi) from falling off of a building. This led Teddy on a quest to woo the superhero, in hopes of getting a date with her.

Green Fury has been an element of DC Comics since 1978, when she was introduced in Super Friends #25. The heroine – who literally has the powers of emitting green flames – has gone by many alter-egos, including Fire and Green Flame. The character’s most modern incarnation started out as an amateur model who later worked for Brazil’s version of the NSA, which led to her getting her powers in a pyroplasmic explosion.

In the years since, Green Fury has been a member of several superhero organizations, including the Justice League and the Global Guardians. Her membership in the later group caught our eye when Crimson Fox appeared in the Powerless premiere, and we speculated what other members of the Global Guardians would follow suit.

(There’s also been a separate Green Flame and Ice Maiden, who were Global Guardians while Fire and Ice were on the Justice League, because comics.)
