Who is Crimson Fox? Well, we’re glad you asked.

The character, created by Keith Giffen, J.M. DeMatteis, and Bart Sears, first appeared in Justice League Europe in the ’90s and was the superhero identity used by twin sisters Constance and Vivian D’Aramis, industrialists who owned a perfume empire. They used their chemical skills to develop scents that would give them control of pheromones, which could affect the emotional fortitude of others, particularly men.

As yet, Crimson Fox is primarily a background character to provide some conflict in the world of Powerless, so there’s no indication at this point as to whether both D’Aramis sisters might be involved.

The French superheroines both have enhanced agility and pheromone powers, in addition to their suit’s metal claws. Constance faked her death so the sisters could share an identity, allowing both of them to live a normal life, and at one point during their time in the Justice League International, they competed for the attentions of teammate Metamorpho.

Both of the D’Aramis twins were eventually killed in action, leading to a third Crimson Fox, a member of the Global Guardians who claimed to have inherited the D’Aramis perfume fortune but did not explain her connection to the sisters. She first appeared during Geoff Johns’s run on Green Lantern but hasn’t been seen since the Flashpoint relaunch in 2011.
