At the end of tonight’s mid-season premiere of The Flash, fans got their first glimpse at Cynthia “Cindy” Reynolds, better known as the metahuman Gypsy (Sleepy Hollow alum Jessica Camacho).

While the details of her appearance next week’s ‘Dead or Alive‘ are scarse, we do know that she has cross-dimensional powers, hails from Earth-19, and has her sights set on Harrison “H.R.” Wells. In addition, Flash co-showrunner Aaron Helbing has teased her appearance will leave a lasting, and possibly romantic, effect on Cisco Ramon/Vibe (Carlos Valdes).

As far as Gypsy’s comic origins go, she has a lengthy backstory since her first appearance in 1984’s Justice League of America Annual #2. Her powers in the comics vary, but generally include some version of illusion casting and telepathy.

She served as a member of JLA Detroit, frequently working alongside Cisco as well as the second Commander Steel. Since then, she has joined The Birds of Prey, as well as the short-lived Justice League Task Force of the mid-’90s.

While it isn’t clear if The Flash‘s incarnation of Gypsy will stay a villain or eventually turn to the good side, fans won’t have to wait much longer to see her face off against Cisco when ‘Dead or Alive’ premieres on January 31st.
