Charles Roven’s role at Warner Bros. will likely transition soon, according to the Hollywood Reporter. He has served as a day-to-day producer on several DC Comics-based films, including Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, Suicide Squad, and Wonder Woman, with an office on set and working closely with directors. They report he’ll move into an executive producer role no longer involved in the day-to-day, though their sources say “no final decisions have been made.”

Roven’s move would make sense considering the recent move to make DC Entertainment CCO Geoff Johns and WB Executive VP Jon Berg co-run DC Films. The pair would then, most likely, be the ones involved in day-to-day production decisions going forward. The move comes in the wake of Batman v Superman‘s less-than-stellar box office haul and critical reception. The film finished with $871 million worldwide, a number topped by two films – both from chief rival Disney – so far in 2016, with another right on its tail. The R-rated superhero film Deadpool from 20th Century Fox, featuring a violently comedic character created in just 1991, beat out BvS and its 75+ year-old characters in domestic box office receipts, as well.
