In the same night that Warner Bros. released a new Wonder Woman TV spot that shows us David Thewlis’ who masquerading as Sir Patrick Morgan, an advocate for peace on the war council, director Patty Jenkins released another television spot that gives us our first glimpse of Ares’ true and horrifying form.

The spot, which you can watch in the video above, begins with Diana’s mother explaining the creation of the Amazons. “When war ravaged the Earth, the gods created us,” Queen Hippolyta says. And at about the 11-second mark, you can see Ares’ armored hand strike Wonder Woman’s bracelets.
The spot concludes with Diana saying, “I will fight for those that cannot fight for themselves.”
During WonderCon, Jenkins had this to say about her version of the God of War. “I think that it was a great delight to place him in the world in a way where he believes in exactly what a real true Ares does,” she told ComicBook.com, “and what kind of havoc would an Ares wreak on this planet and how, and there are some pretty good jobs to put him in for that.”
