“It’s amazing, because it feels like a long time coming.” Jenkins explained. “And I wish that the movie had happened a long time ago for many other reasons. But it feels like it hit this perfect pocket, and I’ve loved that people have embraced it for that reason. Even the fact that Wonder Woman stands for love and truth is hitting home really hard. That she’s a superhero for everyone. ‘I’m an incredible badass, I can do all of these things. But it’s actually not what I’m here for. I’m here to inspire you that being a hero is something bigger than that, and believing in love and the betterment of mankind.’”
Jenkins has been outspoken about Wonder Woman’s positive message while on the film’s press tour, even firing back at those who call the film ‘cheesy’. O’Brien echoed that sentiment, saying how relevant he and many others have found the film.
“It’s not just that you’ve made a really really excellent movie that I really think is going to change young people’s lives, but you made it at the perfect time. We needed, right now, a movie where a woman completely kicks ass and takes over the world.”
