The Overwatch news doesn't seem to take a break, not even on a Sunday. Some new information has emerged from game director Jeff Kaplan's interview with Polygon, this time discussing how the story could expand for two of the game's more underappreciated characters. That, and the company itself may be hosting a special event to celebrate the game's first year anniversary.

First, let's talk about what's going on with those characters. While a lot of them got focus through trailers and presentations surrounding the game, two haven't seen that much exposure – Symmetra and Pharah.

"I worry about characters like Symmetra," Kaplan explained. "I think we could do a lot more with her, and we have a pretty cool arc we'd like to see her go through. Pharah is pretty underrepresented, too, but we have huge plans for her, so I'm not worried about her."

What these events could be have yet to be seen. We could possibly see another comic book, or maybe even something in-game that describes a little more regarding them. They certainly have ties with the Overwatch lore, so whatever it is, we're hoping they get their chance in the spotlight.

But all of the characters in the game will get a chance to shine with a forthcoming birthday stream, which will be broadcast from the TaKeTV studios in Krefeld, Germany on the European Overwatch channel. Many popular streamers from overseas have already been invited to take part, so fans can join in the fun.

That said, there's a catch – it'll run during odd hours since it's initiating from Europe, starting at 1 AM PDT on May 24th and running through 11:00 AM PDT. It'll be archived for those that want to watch the action later – or aren't necessarily in the mood to stay up late. There will be plenty of developer interviews, in-game challenges and even a few prize giveaways, though, so it might be worth popping in.

There's no word on a U.S.-based streaming event yet, but considering the game's popularity here, it's very likely to happen. Be sure to check back for more details.

Overwatch is available now for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC.
