We’ve already seen the first downloadable content pack for Injusice 2 get into action this week with the debut of Red Hood, but now it’s time to take a closer look at the two new fighters that will be introduced over the next few weeks – Starfire and Mortal Kombat veteran Sub-Zero!
The presentation, which just took place at the Electronic Entertainment Expo, begins recapping just what Red Hood is capable of, with his many versatile attacks with knives and guns, as well as his brutal strength through electrical charges.

But then after that, we get a good look at Sub-Zero in action, utilizing his freezing attacks that are quite similar to the ones he used in the past, namely with Mortal Kombat XL – another game that was developed by Injustice‘s NetherRealm Studios. (So obviously, they’re quite familiar with the character.)
Sub-Zero has icy hands, making him versatile when it comes to striking his opponents. But he can combine these with freezing techniques that can stop them in their tracks, just as he’s done in the classic Mortal Kombat games.
He proves to be a worthwhile adversary, even to those that have similarly cold nature with their fighting style (looking at you, Captain Cold). And he makes for an interesting addition to the roster, just as Scorpion did with the original Injustice: Gods Among Us, and he should be a great “comfort” fighter when it comes to those that played the Mortal Kombat games over the past few years.
As far as Sub-Zero’s move set, based on what we’ve seen thus far, he’s capable of quite a bit, including generating ice swords out of thin air, sliding on the ground to throw off opponents, creating combos with up-close attacks, freezing the entire ground to throw an enemy off balance, creating an ice clone (for defense and offensive purposes, as well as a projectile, or even holding someone in place for a stab attack), and his super, which involves him freezing an opponent in mid-air, hitting them with an ice hammer, and then filling them with ice daggers. OUCH.
A release date hasn’t been given for Sub-Zero just yet, but he’s expected in July, alongside Starfire and whoever’s announced next for Injustice 2. The trailer can be seen above!
Injustice 2 is available now for Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
