Janna is one League of Legends champion that is expected to receive changes in the future to highlight players' skill, but for now, changes are being postponed.

As the queen of peeling enemies, Janna's got everything going for her down in the bot lane at the moment. With tank supports and engage compositions seeing a rise in popularity in the meta, there's arguably no better champion than Janna when it comes to stopping these engages cold. She's been a sleeper pick for a while, regarded as an easy support to pick up and climb with, but her abilities don't always allow for much planning and are certainly more reactive in nature.

The changes being tested on the PBE would cause Janna to take a hit to her powerful tornado-tossing ability, but in return, her W, Zephyr, would receive an interesting change that would turn it into more than just a poke-and-slow ability.

Below are the now-reverted changes found in the PBE by Surrender@20:

  • Howling Gale (Q)
    • cooldown increased to from 14/13/12/11/10 to 17/16/15/14/13.
  • Zephyr (W):
    • Mana Restore: 40/50/60/70/80 mana
    • Cooldown reduction: 2 seconds
    • Damage lowered from 60/115/170/225/280 to 60/105/150/195/240.
    • Mana cost lowered from 40/50/60/70/80 to 0 at all ranks.
    • [New Effect] "Damaging a champion with Zephyr restores mana and reduces Janna's cooldowns"

The new cooldown proposed for Janna's iconic Howling Gale seems fair considering how strong the ability is when it comes to disrupting enemies' plans. Unlike other nerfs that sometimes look to target specific areas like early or late game, this nerf would raise the cooldown of her Q at all ranks.

But a unique change that was suggested on her Zephyr would actually make the ability usable with no mana, lowering the mana cost to 0 at all ranks. By landing a W on an enemy, Janna would have both her mana restored and her cooldowns lowered. It would start by restoring 40 mana, the same amount that Cassiopeia's Twin Fang ability restores if it kills the target, for context.

The changes would definitely make Janna more aggressive in lane, but for now, they're holding off on the tweaks. Ardent Censer is up for nerfs first that follow Ancient Coin nerfs, so it'll be interesting to see how these changes affect Janna when they all go live.
