Fortnite recently made the announcement that the latest title from Epic Games would be releasing a Battle Royale game mode that many instantly compared to that of PlayUnknown's Battlegrounds. PUBG has been shattering records left and right, making the title an immediate go-to for comparisons. With both titles offering a 100 player PvP experience, it wasn't long before the developers themselves took notice and they aren't happy.

The developing team behind Battlegrounds, Bluehole, recently released a press statement to talk about the comparisons. Bluehole immediately went into criticisms concerning certain choices that Epic Games made for upcoming Fortnite content. According to Bluehole's vice president Chang Han Kim:

"After listening to the growing feedback from our community and reviewing the gameplay for ourselves, we are concerned that Fortnite may be replicating the experience for which PUBG is known."

The vice president then went on to discuss the previous professional relationship between Bluehole and Epic games, citing "an ongoing relationship with Epic Games throughout PUBG's development as they are the creators of [Unreal Engine 4], the engine we licensed for the game."

A big issue that the PUBG team has over the recent Epic Games announcement is how they are marketing upcoming content. During the unveiling of the new mode, Epic Games went as far as drawing the comparisons themselves by putting out on record that it "loves battle royale games like PUBG."

In addition to comparing the new mode to that of Bluehole's prized title, it also drew attention to the similarities between Fortnite's new mode and H1Z1's King of the Hill battle royale feature. This very same self-made comparison has the PUBG team "concerned that Fortnite may be replicating the experience for which PUBG is known for." Though the list of concerns in the press statement was long, it still isn't clear if Bluehole is looking to take any "further" action legally.

PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds is available now for PC and will be coming to the Xbox One later this year, while Fortnite is live on PC, PlayStation 4, and the Xbox One.
