Let’s be honest, yesterday’s premiere of Thor: Ragnarok‘s trailer was nothing short of awesome. Seeing Chris Hemsworth and the gang in action was a blast, and made for one of the best trailers from San Diego Comic-Con. But thanks to an indie developer, we may have just seem a game that Ragnarok may have been inspired by.

Dan Pearce, who worked on the indie release 10 Second Ninja X amongst other games, tweeted out some images the other day that points out similarities between both Thor: Ragnarok and Jak 3. We’ve put them together in the attached gallery, and point out each specific example. Surely, it’s just incidental at best, but it’s still mind-blowing just how close in nature they really all. Perhaps Thor and Jak are related, huh?

Thor: Ragnarok hits theaters on November 7th, while Jak 3 will make its way to PlayStation 4 sometime later this year.

First off, let’s take a look at both Thor and Jak breaking out into heroic poses. They both kind of look the same, wielding something in their left hand and looking pretty dramatic in the process. Of course, Jak has his differences, as Daxter is sitting on his shoulder, sporting a mean look. But the surroundings around each character look a bit alike, as if everything has been laid to waste around them. One thing’s for sure โ€“ they could easily team up together and probably bring Ragnarok to halt with ease. Though we’ll take the version that has Hulk any day.

Packing Heat

Next up, let’s take a look at the laser cannon that Thor wields as he attempts to undo evil forces alongside his brother Loki. As you can see, it’s a pretty heavy-handed weapon, using both hands to operate. But Jak has a similar weapon, a lightning cannon that’s capable of frying most enemies that come within range of it. The spread from Jak’s wewapon appears to be a bit wider, but the general effect continues to be the same โ€“ vaporizing enemies into dust. Perhaps Chris Hemsworth saw the weapon in Jak 3 and said, “Hey, can I get something like thatโ€ฆ?”

Looming In the Distance

Both Thor: Ragnarok and Jak 3 seem to take place in futuristic landscapes, with a smaller city surrounding a large tower that looms in the distance. Thor: Ragnarok‘s is very easy to see, as it enters into the first frame of the trailer. Meanwhile, the one in Jak 3 comes up as you fly across the landscape, on your way to the next mission. Both look very impressive, though Jak 3‘s appears to tie in with various parts of the city with the help of sky bridges, whereas Thor‘s stands apart, forcing people to be flown into it. It’s hard to really choose one โ€“ they both look pretty amazing.

God(s) of Thunder

Finally, there’s a shot at the end of the Thor: Ragnarok trailer where the God of Thunder proves that he doesn’t need a hammer to unleash his electric fury, as he prepares to battle against his adversaries in a super-charged sort of way. Funny enough, though, Jak can also harbor a great deal of energy and unleash it when facing off against opponents, in a similar electrical manner. But there are differences โ€“ Thor’s energy is pure blue, while Jak prefers more of a darker, magneta-colored set of beams. But, yeah, it’s probably best that you don’t piss these guys off, lest you face a huge electrical charge for your trouble.
