In the past, EA and DICE let players test out Battlefield 1 DLC maps they hadn’t purchases yet if a squadmate owned them through Premium Friends, but now they’re taking things a step further. Premium Trials won’t require you to have a friend with Premium Pass โ€“ anybody will be able to play the upcoming map Prise de Tahure, as well as Nivelle Nights and four other maps from the They Shall Not Pass expansion. While Premium Trials expand the scope of who can play Battlefield 1‘s DLC maps, they are limited-time events. The first Premium Trial arrives later this month, and will be followed by at least two more in August and September.

DICE also further detailed the road ahead for Battlefield 1. As mentioned, Prise de Tahure, which takes the battle to a trench-lined French city at night, arrives this month alongside Premium Trials and a new patch.

September will see the release of the In the Name of the Tsar expansion, which will boast six new maps, the Russian army, and the usual array of weapons and vehicles. After that, we’ll get Turning Tides, a naval-themed expansion, in December. Here’s how DICE describes Battlefield 1: Turning Tides:

Battlefield 1 Turning Tides features the epic clashes of the Zeebrugge Raid, the Gallipoli Offensive, and more. Apart from the frantic naval battles, you’ll also fight on land and in the air on all-new maps with new weapons. There’s much more intel on Battlefield 1 Turning Tides, but we’ll keep it classified for a bit longer.

Battlefield 1 is currently available on PC, Xbox One, and PS4. You can check out WWG’s latest coverage of the game, right here.
