It looks like progress is slowly but surely moving right along for the Uncharted big-screen adaptation, featuring Spider-Man: Homecoming‘s Tom Holland as a young Nathan Drake. It’s a different approach, but one that could work in favor for both the film and the franchise. And it may have just snagged another big actor for a key role.

A report from That Hashtag Show indicates that Sony Pictures is looking to bring in none other than Bryan Cranston, who’d be a perfect fit for the project. Cranston has appeared in a number of roles over the years, including the Breaking Bad series as well as roles in movies like Trumbo and 2014’s Godzilla adaptation.

Cranston’s role hasn’t been revealed yet, but it’s a pretty safe bet that he’s being brought on board to portray Sully, Drake’s older partner and confidant when it comes to all things treasure hunting, if he’s being brought on board at all. There’s also a slim chance he could play the film’s villain, though, again, it’s not quite confirmed yet. He’d make a great Sully, though.

And it would seem that Cranston would have a great sense of repertoire with Holland when it comes to back-and-forth conversations between Sully and Drake, just like the Uncharted games have portrayed over the past few years. Having that wisecracking rhythm between the two is crucial for director Shawn Levy’s game-to-film adaptation to succeed, along with the inclusion of adventure, of course.

Sony hasn’t confirmed any details yet, and the film is still slowly moving into pre-production, so nothing is finalized. That said, here’s hoping that Levy and company find a way to bring Cranston into the fold, because something tells us he’d be a lot of fun, no matter which role he ends up landing.

The Uncharted film doesn’t have a release date yet, but Sony is reportedly eyeing some kind of late 2018/2019 release window. For those that want to get caught up in the adventure a bit earlier than that, there are plenty of Uncharted games to dive into on PlayStation 4, including The Nathan Drake Collection, Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End, and the just-released Uncharted: The Lost Legacy.
