Making the big jump from the little town of early access to the big city of full release, the neighborhood-building simulator Block'hood has made its debut in the Steam store.

Developed by Plethora Project, Block'hood is a title that takes a bit of a different look at the city-building genre, focusing not so much on the "city" aspect and more about the community and environment that the city finds itself in. The game features lush landscapes with a simplistic art style that certainly lends a more peaceful feeling to the game as opposed to other city-builders that seem to focus on putting players against the clock in order to create and survive.

Buildings, living quarters, and leisurely spaces can certainly be crafted out of the game's over 200 building blocks that can be combined to create unique structures, but the environment will need some upkeep as well if everything is to stay as pretty as it was when your project first took form. A block over here affects the block over there, and it's important to make sure that the space you're trying to create works well with everything that surrounds it.

"For Example, a tree might need water to create oxygen, and a shop might need consumers to create money," reads a description on Project Plethora's game page about the importance of envisioning your creations before building them. "By understanding how each block is dependent on other blocks, you can create a productive network. Make sure to optimize your production and generate abundant resources."

Should blocks not get the attention and resources that they deserve, they will begin to deteriorate, and players will be forced to pluck the block from the surrounding structure to ensure that other blocks don't suffer a similar fate.

Block'hood will have several different modes to choose from when it comes to building the eco-friendly environments. A story mode was added with the full release that guides players through an industrial and ecological adventure. The mode joins a sandbox mode that allows players to create freely and practice their skills while a challenge mode tasks them with creating structures from limited resources.

The game is currently available on Steam for $7.49, 25 percent off of the original $9.99 price tag for a limited time.
