Classic PS2 Game From 2007 Leaked to Release on PS5 and PS4

A classic PS2 game that was originally released in 2007 has leaked and seems to be heading to PS5 and PS4. Over the past couple of years, Sony has made a concentrated effort to bring back a litany of popular PS2 games and make them accessible on current-gen PlayStation hardware. This has resulted in games from franchises like Sly Cooper, TimeSplitters, Ape Escape, and more all hitting PS5 and PS4, with the promise that more would be coming down the road. Now, one major franchise with deep roots to PlayStation looks to be next on tap for a re-release of its own.

Spotted on True Trophies, a new trophy listing for Tomb Raider: Anniversary was found and indicates that the game is set to arrive on PS5 and PS4 in short order. (UPDATE: This leak has been confirmed, as Tomb Raider: Anniversary is officially coming to PS4 and PS5 on October 21, 2025. Original article follows, and be sure to check out other announcements from PlayStation’s September State of Play.)

Released originally on PS2, Tomb Raider: Anniversary is a remake of the original Tomb Raider, which had previously launched on PS1. Anniversary was well-received by fans and would go on to be ported to just about every platform, including PSP and PS3. Currently, this new release of Tomb Raider: Anniversary hasn’t been announced by Sony or Eidos, but its existence isn’t in doubt now that trophies for the game have hit PlayStation servers.

This New PS2 Game Is Likely Bound for PS Plus

In all likelihood, Tomb Raider: Anniversary should be added as a “Classics” title for PlayStation Plus once it does release. This is what happened with Tomb Raider: Legend when it was brought to PS5 and PS4 in 2024, so there’s no reason to believe that the same won’t be true here. Given the timing of this leak as well, it indicates that Anniversary will join the PS Plus lineup of new games in October 2025.

There’s also the chance that the PS2 version of Tomb Raider: Anniversary isn’t the one that ends up getting ported to PS5 and PS4. Sony has also been bringing PSP games over to modern PlayStation hardware, which means that this former handheld version of Anniversary could be the one that gets the re-release. Regardless of what ends up happening, we likely won’t have to wait much longer to find out, as Sony should share more official details on this release soon. If a new State of Play does happen this week, as is rumored, perhaps we’ll even hear about it then.
