The original Star Wars: Battlefront II has been dormant for a few years, ever since its online multiplayer servers were taken offline in 2014 following the closure of GameSpy. It looks like that’s all about to change.
According to DualShockers, the team at GOG has paired up with Disney to get the classic game’s online multiplayer working again.

If you own the classic game, you’ll be able to jump back in and take on friends again with restored online services. As a matter of fact, they’re reportedly better than ever before, as GOG has managed to make the game cross-play compatible between both the GOG Galaxy and Steam services, so you can join up and take on players however you see fit.
It looks like the services are exclusive to the PC versions of the game, so if you’re hoping they get restored for PlayStation 2 and Xbox, well, you’ll just have to keep on waiting. But kudos to GOG for making it playable online somewhere.
If you don’t have the classic Battlefront II, not to worry as you can get it for dirt cheap. GOG is currently selling the game for the rock-bottom price of $3.99. That’s a good deal that you shouldn’t dare pass up.
As for the new Battlefront II, it’ll release on November 17th for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC.
