That didn’t take long. Destiny 2 has been out on PC for a few hours, and already the game has been mined to Hell and players have uncovered some potentially huge spoilers pertaining to future events, expansions, and raids. It should go without saying that you need to refrain from reading this if you don’t want to be spoiled on any of this content.

It should also be noted that none of this is set in stone. We’ve seen files uncovered in the past that seemed to indicate a very clear return of the Prison of Elders, which Bungie later waved off as leftover code from the original Destiny, saying that the Prison of Elders was not making an imminent return to Destiny 2. Most of this — all of this — could be leftover code or voice lines that were scrapped from the game entirely, so take it all with a grain of salt.

Reddit user TheEcumene uploaded a ton of audio files in this Reddit thread for everyone to sift through, and many of them allude to events and place that we have yet to see. Nothing is spelled out explicitly, but there we have a few major leads that we think will interest you, Guardian.

Some Familiar Places

dreadnaught

It looks like we’re not quite ready to leave the Dreadnaught behind; not for good, anyway. Within the voice files you’ll find several lines from various faction leaders about the Dreadnaught and how it must be infiltrated and understood. While Oryx is gone, the Dreadnaught is still floating out there, and apparently must be contained. These voice lines are very likely for patrol missions, and the Dreadnaught isn’t the only old location mentioned by name.

Old Russia is also brought up, as well as Mars and Venus. Perhaps more exciting is the fact that “the Vault,” which we can only assume is alluding to the Vault of Glass. There’s also mention of the Black Garden.

It sounds like many of our favorite locations from the original Destiny are set to make a comeback. That is, if these voice lines are anything more than leftover scraps.

Brand New Locations and New People

speaker

There also seem to be a wealth of new voice lines about a place we’ve never seen called “The Myriad.” There are lines from all three factions mentioning adventures out to The Myriad and understanding The Myriad. If we’re going to get a new raid in the expansion, is it possible that it will take place on a new planet location entirely, or should we expect it to show up somewhere new?

We could also be getting a new Speaker. At the end of Destiny 2 The Speaker is expired, and we’re left without his presence in The Tower. There are, however, multiple lines that refer to the speaker in these files. If they’re not scrapped voice work, then we can assume that we’ll either see the resurrection of The Speaker, or else a new one altogether.

Cayde-6 Death?

destiny 2

These are among the strangest bits of audio you’ll find in the leak, and we can’t tell if this is a major story beat that has yet to pass, or scrapped audio never meant to be heard. In a file marked for spoilers, we have four different audio clips referring to the death and departure of our beloved Cayde-6, who has all but become the mascot for Destiny.

“Cayde’s death is upon us,” reads one line. “What would he would do with that information, I wonder.” Another line says, “He wasn’t aligned with our greater goals, but Cayde was a friend and an ally. He will be missed.” And “He wasn’t leadership material, but Cayde was a good man – machine or otherwise.”

A final line reads, “Simulations predicted Cayde’s departure… but not what came after.” What the heck is happening, here? Did we miss something? Is there going to be a major expansion quest line that centers around Cayde-6 and his death? We need to know more about this one.

There are many more files at the link, and pages of speculation as to what they might imply. We should know more about the validity of these files after the launch of the first expansion, so keep your ears to the ground.
