PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds, Minecraft, Offworld, and more are just a few of the communities that have officially joined in on the Discord fun. Discord is a team chat client that allows players to voice/video/general chat with other players and team up for online play. It’s an awesome communication resource, and it just got a little bit better as the company launches verified servers.

Discord has officially teamed up with developers and publishers alike to open up official channels where they can communicate directly to the community that enjoys their games. By creating these official Discord channels, players have a reliable connection directly with the teams behind their favourite titles. Each server will also be moderated by the actual publishers and developers themselves, which is an awesome experience for fans.

A verified checkmark will appear next to the channels to show which ones are passed authentication. This will serve a verifiable way for players to engage with industry professionals and be the first to hear updates and news regarding their favourite games. This also creates a way for these professionals to moderate the type of community that surrounds their work, encouraging a less hostile environment for players to provide feedback and share their gaming experiences.

The team over at Minecraft had this to say when they opened up their verified Discord channel:

“Our Discord server lets us talk directly to our biggest players, tell them about upcoming updates to the game and get them hyped about MINECON. Joining the Verified Server program lets our players know that they are on the official Minecraft server.”
