Earlier today, we broke the news regarding the first trailer for Netflix’s Castlevania animated series, which was originally announced earlier this year, featuring the talents of Adi Shankar, Frederator Studios and Warren Ellis, all ready to tell a compelling side of Konami‘s ongoing legacy in animated form.

Well, now we’ve got an even longer trailer, and while most of the footage is familiar to the trailer we posted earlier, it does feature a rather neat intro, with someone plugging a cartridge into a classic NES system (where the original Castlevania got its start) and then selecting to go into the trailer. It’s a pretty neat start that leads up to the animated footage we saw earlier.
What’s more, the trailer is official, as it was premiered through Adi Shankar’s official Facebook page just moments ago. He noted, “And so it begins,” at the top of the post, followed by, “Making this for you guys has been an absolute honor. It’s reinvigorated me creatively and has been one of the best experiences of my career.”
On top of that, he also confirmed the premiere date for the first part of the season. “Castlevania is coming to Netflix on July 7th,” he noted. (If you want to hear more on Shankar’s involvement with the animated series, check out our interview with him here.)
We’ve embedded the full trailer for you above, so you can check it out in action (without those Latina subtitles from the previous trailer.) Yes, we’re very excited for it, and even posted a special talking about how faithful it will be to the original Castlevania game series, complete with a gallery of still shots taken straight from the trailer.
This will no doubt be another powerhouse addition to Netflix’s ongoing programming, which includes the likes of the revived Mystery Science Theater 3000 series, alongside the just-announced return of The Dark Crystal with a new sub-series, as well as the familiar series we’ve come to expect from the streaming network. And no doubt Castlevania fans are sure to love it as well, especially considering they currently don’t have a new video game to turn to. (Well, there is that pachinko machine, but, no, that doesn’t count, sorry.)
The Netflix Castlevania animated series makes its premiere on July 7th.
