Yesterday, Ubisoft pulled the curtain back on Far Cry 5, unveiling a debut trailer and plenty of details about their latest open world adventure. It seems things have gone seriously sideways in Hope County, Montana, as a doomsday cult called Project at Eden’s Gate, led by the charismatic Joseph Seed, have moved into town. The Far Cry 5 debut trailer mainly focuses on these cultists and the bloody carnage they’ve brought to Hope County.

But all it not lost! Not everybody in Hope County has been drawn in by Father Joseph, as there’s a small, but determined resistance fighting against his cult. You play as a young deputy sheriff tasked with ridding the county of Joseph and his followers, and you’ll be backed up by three able allies โ a gun-toting Pastor, a foul-mouthed barmaid, and a farmer who happens to have access to a very handy crop duster. The odds are certainly against you, but together you and your posse will return Hope County to what it once was. Or die trying.
In addition to the main Far Cry 5 announce trailer, Ubisoft has released three additional trailers focusing on your resistance allies. Scroll on down to check them all outโฆ.

Pastor Jerome Jeffries
First, we have Pastor Jerome Jeffries, who obviously isn’t pleased about the false prophet who’s swept into town. Father Joseph and his cult have emptied the pews in Pastor Jerome’s church, and he stood back and let it happen. It seems the pastor it done turning the other cheek tough, as we discover his hollowed-out Bible hides a magnum while he suits up for war. If he can’t be his congregation’s shepherd, then he must be the wolf! I’m not sure the Bible endorses that course of action, but sure, okay.

Mary May
Next up, we have Mary May, who owns the local bar. Seems Mary has had it worse than almost anybody โ her mother and brother were “taken” by the cult (whatever that means), and her dad didn’t react well. This led to his murder at the hands of Joseph’s cult, leaving the bar and a lot of sad memories with Mary. At the end of the trailer, we see Mary has been mixing up a different kind of drink โ Molotov cocktails. There won’t be any happy hour for any cult members at Mary’s bar.

Nick Rye
Finally, we have Nick Rye, a local farmer. Nick has a baby on the way, and he wants the kid to inherit the farm, but it seems like a pipe dream with violent cultists running roughshod in Hope County. Nick’s dad and grandpa were both in the Air Force, flying in World War II and (presumably) Vietnam, but Nick has only ever used his flying skills for crop dusting. Well, that’s about to change. At the end of the trailer we see Nick attaching a Gatling gun to his plane for a whole different kind of crop dusting.
It’s a motley crew, but they have conviction, and a whole lot of ammunition, on their side. Cultists beware!
Far Cry 5 arrives on PC, Xbox One, and PS4 on February 27, 2018. You can check out WWG’s coverage of the game, right here.
