Square Enix’s Just Cause 3 is an underrated gem, which came out in late 2015 and gave players the ability to run wild in an island-based territory, creating havoc with mechs, cars, weapons and whatever else they can get their hands on. But if you managed to miss out on it, good news – you’ve got a second chance to try it out!

Square Enix has announced that it will be offering a free Steam trial of the full Just Cause 3 game for the next couple of days. The release ties in with the recently introduced multiplayer mod for the game, enabling fans to compete against one another in the not-so-island paradise. It’s unknown if you can try out the mod with the free trial version of the game, but we don’t see why you wouldn’t be able to.
You’ve still got some time to check out the free full game on the house, but if you feel compelled to purchase it, Square Enix has you covered there as well. It’s selling the regular edition of Just Cause 3 for $12.49 on the PC service, or you can add a few bucks and buy the XL Edition, with all the expansions (including a mech and aerial vehicles!) for $18.74. That’s the version that’s definitely worth it. Both of these versions are on sale through July 28th, so you’ve got some time to pick them up.
Sadly, it looks like the deal is exclusive to PC – for now. There’s always a good chance that console owners could see the multiplayer mod down the road, as well as the possibility of a free game trial to try before you buy. We’ll let you know what Square Enix has in mind down the road.
Again, this is a solid opportunity to check out a highly entertaining open-world game that lets you wreak havoc pretty much wherever you set foot, so don’t miss this chance to check it out. The least you can do is take it for a spin for a day and rack up the multi-millions of dollars in damage.
Just Cause 3 is available now for PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
