It has taken four years, but Insomniac Games is finally ready to talk about Marvel’s Wolverine. The upcoming PS5 game was the final title shown at today’s new PlayStation State of Play and resulted in Insomniac answering plenty of questions that fans have had. And while we’re still roughly a year away from Wolverine releasing and becoming playable on PS5, Insomniac did briefly inform fans of when they’ll be ready to show off more of the game.

In a footnote at the end of the PlayStation State of Play, Marvel’s Wolverine creative director Marcus Smith said that the studio will next share more in the Spring of 2026. A more specific date within this window wasn’t provided, but this does at least make it clear that it will probably be six months or more until we see Wolverine in action once again. PlayStation’s studios rarely provide details like this when it comes to the next marketing beat for a specific game, but in the case of Insomniac, the company likely wants to put fans at ease after they had to wait four full years to see the game running for the first time.
What’s Left to Reveal in Marvel’s Wolverine?

While there was a lot shown in this debut trailer for Marvel’s Wolverine, it was also pretty clear that Insomniac was keeping a lot under wraps. The studio teased that there will be plenty of other characters from the X-Men universe in this game, but didn’t say who they might be. Villains Omega Red and Mystique did make brief appearances in the trailer, although it’s not exactly clear how integral they’ll be to the narrative.
Insomniac also has yet to provide info on the format and structure of Marvel’s Wolverine. Will this be a linear, level-based game, or will it be open-world to some degree like the Marvel’s Spider-Man series? Certain elements of this Wolverine trailer looked open-world, but we still don’t know for sure if it will be. In all likelihood, these answers should come about next Spring alongside plenty of other new bits of info.
For now, the one thing we know with certainty is that Wolverine is slated to release in Fall 2026 and will be exclusive to PS5 upon its arrival.
