A hotfix for Janna was pushed on Wednesday that nerfed the support just after League of Legends’ Patch 7.19 was released.

The patch notes for League’s latest update included quite a few changes for Janna to make the champion a bit more proactive in lane instead of just deftly deflecting initiations with peels and shields. While some stats were buffed and others nerfed, the goal was an overall decrease in power for Janna that would prompt her to harass enemies a bit more with auto attacks. Within the same day that the patch went live, a hotfix has already pushed the following changes:
Base Stats
- Base Movement Speed :: 335 >>> 320
- Base Health :: 525 >>> 500
- Base Mana :: 409.52 >>> 350
Zephyr (W)
- Cost :: 40/50/60/70/80 >>> 50/60/70/80/90
Whether you’re one of the many Janna mains that now exist thanks to her dominance in the bottom lane or have played her for years and need some justification for the nerfs, Riot Maple Nectar had an explanation for the hotfix. In addition to the details on the nerf, there was also some context for Riot not nerfing Janna harder in the initial patch.
“Ultimately, with how hot of a topic Janna has been recently, you might be wondering why we didn’t just hold off on Janna for another patch, or why we shipped her like this,” Maple Nectar said. “To us, it felt more valuable to put a change out we were far happier with directionally than leave her in her current state for another two weeks.”
The Rioter went on to explain that the number of games that they used internally to test the changes to Janna wouldn’t compare to the millions of games that they can look at if a change is pushed live. After seeing many more players return to Janna even after the net-nerfs, it appears as though the initial trade-offs planned for Janna didn’t hurt her quite as much as to be expected. Her winrate actually jumped up after the patch, currently sitting at just under 59 percent.
Janna’s changes are planned to be monitored further moving on from the hotfix to see if more changes are necessary.
