A little while back, we reported on the news that Limited Run Games would bring back the controversial Sega CD classic Night Trap as a 25th anniversary re-release, which we should see sometime this summer. Today, the company revealed a new mode that’s coming to the game – perfect for those that just want to sit back and relax as high-tech vampires stalk girls in lingerie.

The company has introduced a new Theater Mode, which you can see in the trailer above. In it, you’ll be able to view a variety of cutscenes that are featured in the mode, enabling you to see what’s happening in the house from different directions, instead of having to push buttons to activate traps.
The developers at Screaming Villains noted that in the Theater Mode, you’ll not only be able to see all the cutscenes you missed the first time around, but also check them out with their original audio cuts, rather than the overdubbed versions that went into the game. How the developer was able to get their hands on those, we’re not sure – but it sounds like a trip of nostalgia that some fans of the game won’t want to miss.
Though the trailer is a bit on the short side, it does give you an idea of how the mode works, and it’s kinda trippy being able to jump around and see what kind of footage is available wihin the game. It’s hardly cutting edge – we’re talking 90’s filming here – but it’s pretty cool if you ever wanted to see how certain things come together within it. Oh, and did we mention those high-tech vampires are hilarious? Because, really. “Who needs to suck blood when we have this giant pincher gun?”
Limited Run Games hasn’t given a release date on Night Trap just yet, but it’s expected to come out for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One later this year, with the PS4 version getting three limited edition box releases, each resembling previous releases for Sega CD and its Sega CD 32X expansion. The general game is the same, though – so feel free to choose whichever one you want.
We’ll let you know when the game gets a release date!
