Marvel’s Spider-Man 3 will reportedly include a new Spider-Man that has been featured in the Spider-Verse films. Insomniac Games has been awfully quiet since it released Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 back in fall 2023. The team at Insomniac suffered a massive hack that resulted in years of future Marvel projects leaking, including plans for a new X-Men game, a Venom game, and of course, more Spidey adventures. As of right now, all we officially know is that Insomniac is working on Marvel’s Wolverine and seemingly Marvel’s Spider-Man 3 as well based on comments from actors in the game, but not much is known about either project.

With that said, Marvel’s Wolverine is rumored to get a new trailer very soon. The game was revealed four years ago this month and since then, we haven’t seen any other official trailers or screenshots. It was likely extremely early in development when it was announced and it is expected that we will get to see more very soon. That appears to be the studio’s next big project, but we are also hearing all kinds of rumblings about other projects spinning up at Insomniac Games.
Marvel’s Spider-Man 3 Will Reportedly Feature Spider-Man 2099
According to a new report from MP1st, a website that is gaining more and more credibility with its original reporting, Insomniac Games is planning to introduce Miguel O’Hara AKA Spider-Man 2099 in a future project. The website confirmed that the long-rumored Venom game is still in the works at the studio, but deemed it unlikely Spider-Man 2099 would be featured in that game.
Instead, they said it’s more plausible that the futuristic Spidey would appear in Marvel’s Spider-Man 3. Of course, it’s not entirely clear what role he might play in that game, especially since Insomniac hasn’t explored the concept of the multiverse too much in those games. He could be relegated to a side quest, especially since Silk is expected to appear in Marvel’s Spider-Man 3 based on the last game’s post-credits sequence.
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 also had a Spider-Verse side quest that tied-in with Sony’s animated movies, but it didn’t really go anywhere. It’s possible that side quest will continue in the third game and Miguel will appear from the animated Spider-Verse universe in some capacity. Only time will tell, but for now, we highly advise taking this rumor with a grain of salt. Although MP1st is a reliable source, things can turn out to be incorrect and Insomniac could also completely cut Miguel’s role from Marvel’s Spider-Man 3 before it releases.
This wouldn’t be his first time in a game either. Spider-Man 2099 was prominently featured in the games Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions and Spider-Man: Edge of Time. The character has gained a lot of popularity in recent years with the Spider-Verse movies and he’s expected to return as an antagonist in Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse in 2027.
