Watching AM2RAnother Metroid 2 Remake – get cancelled under the mighty boot of Nintendo was painful for some fans to watch. Granted, it pretty much had to be done to pave the way for the company's official sequel, Metroid: Samus Returns, but one can't help but think it could've existed in its own right, even as a fan project.

But not to worry, as the creator of that project is hard at work on something far bigger – and better yet, having a much greater chance to come out.

It was announced today that the creator of AM2R, Milton Guasti, has joined the team at Moon Studios, who are currently hard at work on Ori and the Will of the Wisps, the sequel to the critically acclaimed Ori and the Blind Forest. The game was previously revealed during Microsoft's E3 showcase, and fans went nuts when they learned it was coming back.

Moon Studios actually saw Guasti's talent from the work he put into AM2R, as he announced on Twitter about his hiring, noting, "it's a special day for another reason. I'm now part of Moon Studios. I'll be working on level design for Ori and the Will of the Wisps."

It's good to see that Guasti's talents won't go to waste, as he can truly contribute to Ori and make its sequel shine. He spent a great deal of time putting AM2R together, and got a great deal of feedback from fans that appreciated the classic style of play that it had to offer. Nevertheless, a cease-and-desist letter from Nintendo put an end to that project real quick. But, again, it's great to see that it wasn't for nothing.

Ori and the Will of the Wisps is currently slated to arrive for Xbox One and Windows 10 PC, but doesn't have a release date.
