Many Marvel fans, myself included, were excited when NetEase announced Marvel Mystic Mayhem. This free-to-play tactical RPG released in June 2025, bringing fans another way to engage with Marvel characters on the go. Despite some initial early interest, however, the game never really took off the way prior NetEase and Marvel Games collab Marvel Rivals did. Now, a new in-app notice confirms that NetEase is ending service on Marvel Mystic Mayhem after less than a year.

Players who logged in to Marvel Mystic Mayhem on December 24th were greeted with sad news. Via an in-app notification, NetEase has confirmed it will be ending service for its newest Marvel mobile game at the start of the year. The process will be completed in waves, with some completed new content being released through March 2026. However, some features will be shut down starting December 25th to prepare for the end of service. Here’s what we know about the Marvel Mystic Mayhem update from NetEase.
Marvel Mystic Mayhem Shuts Down Microtransactions As Updates Wind Down

For those who’ve been enjoying Marvel Mystic Mayhem, it’s not quite the end of days just yet. NetEase will still release planned updates through March 2026. Players can look forward to 6 new characters being added to the game, along with 1 final new story chapter. These content updates will take players through to April 1st, 2026. After that last update, Marvel Mystic Mayhem will not receive any new content. The final characters to be released, as confirmed in the update from NetEase, will be:
- Phoenix
- Iceman
- Venom
- Wolverine
- Cyclops
- Morgan le Fay
These characters will arrive over time from December 25th, 2025 through March 19th, 2026. After that, no new characters will be added to the game.
At this time, NetEase hasn’t made a decision about a full server shutdown. The developer notes it will give players a 60-day warning before any server shutdown, with a final decision expected next year. This update will likely come closer to the planned end of service in April 2026.
As it prepares to shutter updates for Marvel Mystic Mayhem, NetEase is making a few big changes. Microtransactions will be disabled in the mobile game starting on December 25th. Players will, however, receive free currency to help them experience the new content that will release through early 2026. This includes an unlocked Battle Pass until the end of updates on April 1st. So, if you want to see through the final 6 characters and the last chapter of the Marvel Mystic Mayhem, it will be easier to do so as a free-to-play player.
Marvel Mystic Mayhem just released on June 25th, 2025. Its end-of-service on April 1st will mean the mobile game was on the market for less than a year. Though players aren’t exactly surprised to see the game winding down, it’s coming a bit sooner than most were prepared for. As one Reddit user puts it, “That was WAY faster than expected.”
As of now, it doesn’t look like NetEase has plans to fully delist the game just yet. Any plans to do so, along with the future server status, will likely be communicated early next year.
