New PlayStation Plus Horror Game Has a 98/100 Rating With Players

PlayStation Plus has a new game that is one of the best horror games of 2024, and that is part of its September 2025 lineup. And this is most evident by the fact that it has a 98/100 rating on Steam. Meanwhile, on the PlayStation Store, it has a 4.76 out of 5. In the case of the former, this is after nearly 4,500 user reviews, and in the case of the latter, nearly 3,000 user reviews. In other words, these high returns aren’t the result of a small number of views, but are rather indicative of the game’s quality.

The horror game in question is Crow Country, which was recently made free via both PS Plus Extra and PS Plus Premium. How long it will be free via these subscription services, we do not know. What we do know is that it has not been made available to those at the PS Plus Essential tier, which is the lowest tier of the Sony subscription service.

A PS1-Style Horror Game

Crow Country, for those who know nothing about it, was released in 2024 by developer SFB Games. And as you can see from its trailer above, it recreates the PS1-era horror experience, wearing its Resident Evil and Silent Hill inspiration on its sleeve. Like these games, it is a survival-horror game, and has some puzzle elements as well.

The game is set in 1990, two years after the mysterious disappearance of Edward Crow and the closure of his theme park, Crow Country. You play as Mara Fores, who has arrived at the park looking for answers.

“Don’t Sleep on Crow Country”

Right on cue, one of the top posts on the PlayStation Plus Reddit page right now is a post that warns fellow subscribers not to sleep on the new addition.

“It’s been a long while since a game from the game catalogue actually made me want to sit and play for hours,” reads the post in question. “This horror indie game was really good. It’s not super long, so it’s not a long commitment. If you guys want to play a horror game, definitely try it. The story is really weird and interesting, and I can’t explain why, but it just felt satisfying exploring through the map.”

Those who decide to check out Crow Country via PlayStation Plus are being saved a $20 purchase, and should expect a horror experience that lasts between five and nine hours, on average.

If this recommendation doesn’t tickle your fancy, PlayStation Plus recently added a new day-one game that is being described as “amazing” by some subscribers. This game is Sword of the Sea.
