Remember the corny 90's full-motion video horror game (well, if you can call it that) Night Trap? It made its debut on the Sega CD and featured a bunch of scantily clad students being stalked by what appeared to be freakish, high-tech vampires. The game was a cult favorite, even though some were worried about its content at the time, even getting the government involved at one point.

Well, good news. As we reported earlier, the game is making a comeback for consoles and PC, and now Limited Run Games has confirmed a release date. The company noted on Twitter today that the game will release digitally on August 15th for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC. A price point hasn't been given yet, but it shouldn't set you back too much.

For those that prefer a physical copy of the game, there's good news there as well. The company will release various editions of the game, including a special collector's edition limited to 3,000 copies worldwide, starting August 11th at 10:00 EDT. They're first come first serve, and once they're gone, they are gone, so you might want to jump quickly.

The collector's edition, which should be the crowning jewel for the editions available for the game, includes some cool goodies, such as a full color manual, a large fold-out poster, reversible cover art, a cassette tape featuring the infamous theme song, a four inch custom embroidered Special Control Attack Team patch, and a shrink-wrapped box that looks like the classic red box from the Sega CD release. That one's bound to go quickly, so you may want to jump on it as soon as you can.

Night 2

You can check out the (cheesy) trailer above that confirms the game's release date, and indicates some of its awesome features, including a behind-the-scenes documentary, deleted scenes and a "theater" mode where you can see all the action happening without pushing a button – just like a real cheesy horror movie.

We'll let you know how the game turns out shortly after its release, and whether Limited Run Games intends to publish any more FMV games. We could use a return of Sewer Shark, y'know…
