It's no secret that Nintendo has picked up on a practice where games that originally came out on the Wii U are getting a definitive release on the Nintendo Switch. It just makes sense, since Nintendo's newer system has far more reach than its older one.

So far, we've seen Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and Warner Bros. deliver Lego City Undercover, and soon we'll be getting Pokken Tournament DX as well. And apparently, Nintendo isn't done yet.

Speaking with IGN, Nintendo president Reggie Fils-Aime has confirmed that Nintendo is looking to bring over more games from the Wii U to the Switch, with more "deluxe" games being part of an "active discussion" amongst developers and members of the publishing team.

"Look, in the end, fill in your favorite franchise here," he noted. "It comes down to how do we do something more? How do we do something unique? How do we take a franchise and make it vibrant with more and (reach) more people?"

One example that Fils-Aime pointed out was Metroid: Samus Returns, which serves as a remake of the 1991 release Metroid II, but obviously with more tweaks and a visual overhaul. "That's how we think about our different franchises and different IP," he noted. "So when one of our developers has an idea – and again, fill in your favorite franchise here – to take it and make it more vibrant, that's when it will come to one of our platforms."

Nintendo's Wii U history has a number of enriched opportunities for Switch ports that can actually make a difference, like a version of Star Fox Zero that doesn't have the conflictive motion control set-up (just good old-fashioned gameplay, yeah?), a deluxe version of Bayonetta 2 with even more goodies, and maybe even Paper Mario: Color Splash, but with, um, more color maybe?

Of course, we didn't forget Smash. Come on.

The company hasn't announced any more ports as of yet, but considering how well Mario Kart 8 Deluxe was received, don't be surprised if we see a couple more over the new year. Plus, yes, we want to play Bayonetta 2 again in a portable format. Can you blame us?
