Overwatch is almost a year old, and Blizzard is planning to celebrate with a big birthday bash. Here’s what you can expect from the Overwatch Anniversary event:

“Celebrate Overwatch‘s anniversary with a batch of commemorative treats for your heroes during a new event: Overwatch Anniversary. Kick off the celebration with a bang by picking up Anniversary Loot Boxes. Every Loot Box contains up to four cosmetic items, including at least one Anniversary Skin, Spray, Highlight Intro, Emote, Victory Pose, Player Icon, or Voice Line. More than 100 Anniversary goodies are waiting for you!”
Sounds like a pretty packed event, although Blizzard is being a little bit cagey about the upcoming content. Or, at least, their American branch is. Recently, the official Korean Overwatch Twitter account revealed four new skins for Bastion, Pharah, and Zarya. You can check out the skins in the video at the top of this post, or get a better look at them, belowโฆ

There doesn’t necessarily seem to be any unifying theme to these skins, although maybe there’s something that ties them together we don’t know about yet?
Above we have Bastion, who looks a little cuddlier than usual with orange piping and a slightly more rounded appearance. Perhaps a little BB-8 influence here? Or a little Wall-E? Is Blizzard angling for a Bastion Disney movie?
Next up, we have Pharah with an interesting outfit that seems to mix up Middle Eastern and Pacific Northwest Native American iconography. This has raised a few eyebrows amongst the cultural appropriation police, but Blizzard has been teasing for some time that Pharah is of Egyptian-Native American mixed ancestry, so it makes senseย in that respect. It’s also a pretty cool outfit in general — the best Anniversary skin we’ve seen so far.ย
Moving along, we have Agent 76, who has replaced his usual blue duds with orange, and appears to have some sort of cybernetic legs.
And finally, we have Zarya with a radically different look. Heck, if she wasn’t specifically identified as Zarya, I wouldn’t even know who it was. Hopefully there’s an interesting story behind this one.
The Overwatch Anniversary event will kick off on May 23. Feel like it’s finally time to give this game a shot? Overwatch: Game of the Year Edition, which comes with a bunch of extra goodies, launches alongside the Anniversary event.
