A leak of a soon to be released Japanese magazine has revealed new details about Pokemon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon. The new Pokemon games are due to come out in just two months, but we still don’t know many details about the new games. This isn’t exactly a surprise, since the games are set in the same region as Pokemon Sun and Moon and mostly feature the same Pokemon. However, we still don’t know much about the game’s new features…at least not until now.

A leak of the Japanese magazine CoroCoro confirmed that the new forms of Solgaleo and Lunala on the covers of Pokemon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon are fusions of Necrozma and those Pokemon. The fusions occur in-game when Necrozma somehow absorbs those Pokemon.
While we don’t yet know what the forms will be called in English, the Japanese names translate to Necrozma – Mane of Twilight (when Necrozma absorbs Solgaleo) and Necrozma – Wings of Dawn (when Necrozma absorbs Lunala). Both forms retain Solgaleo and Lunala’s respective signature moves Sunsteel Strike and Moongeist Beam.
This isn’t the first time a “sequel” game has featured a fusion between two Legendary Pokemon. Pokemon Black 2 and White 2 also featured a fusion between Kyurem and Reshiram or Zekrom…depending on which game you owned. In those games, Team Plasma uses a scientific device called a DNA Splitter to forcibly merge the two Legendary Pokemon together. We should note that an ex-Team Plasma member named Colress appeared in Pokemon Sun and Moon, seemingly still researching the “true power” of Pokemon.
More details about Pokemon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon are expected in the coming days, as Nintendo is hosting a Direct presentation that should reveal more details about the game. Pokemon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon will be released worldwide on November 17.
