Call of Duty: WWII will be getting plenty of awesome multiplayer modes to choose from when it drops later this year, along with the new Headquarters hub, where you can hook up with other players and test your skills. But is there a possibility we could be seeing a Sledgehammer Games staple return to the game?

Dailystar recently had the opportunity to speak with the studio's co-founder and chief operating and development officer Michael Condrey about multiplayer, in which he expressed, "War mode, we're really excited about War mode. We saw this as an opportunity to bring a grounded context for the conflict and really reinforce teamwork.

"Whereas the traditional Call of Duty modes in the past, was largely about a tier one lone wolf soldier."

But then the team asked about Uplink, which was introduced back with the studio's first game, Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare. Condrey noted, "We have a ton of heart for those other game modes. Team Deathmatch, Domination, Hard point. We haven't announced all the modes we're bringing to the game…we introduced Uplink in Advanced Warfare and we have a lot of heart for that."

As far as Uplink goes, though, "So we're looking to make that thematically appropriate for WWII. It's something we're still working on. There will be a much broader suite of modes.

"The Uplink that we brought to life in Advanced Warfare was about fast movement, boost jump and clearly we don 't have those here," he explained. "We have a lot of heart for Uplink and we want to make it feel like it has a place in WWII. More announcements to come on that but you can tell your readers and fans that we have a lot of heart to figure that out."

So it's not entirely confirmed, but it sounds like the team is trying to figure out a way to include it. It's still got a few months to put together, so we're keeping our fingers crossed that it somehow makes the cut. We shall see soon enough.

Call of Duty: WWII releases on November 3rd for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC.
