We've been waiting a while for VBlank Entertainment's follow-up to its best-selling Retro City Rampage, the 16-bit style Shakedown Hawaii, and while we're no closer to a release date, the developer did reveal a neat new feature that will be highlighted in the game.

In the trailer, which you can see below, you get a glimpse at one of the new Arcade Challenges that are going to be introduced into the forthcoming game. The particular challenge that's highlighted in this trailer is called Pedestrian Target Practice, in which you'll have to make your way down a long street, pretty much setting fire to everything – and everyone – that comes into your path. Considering the game is following the same "go anywhere, destroy anything" mantra of Rampage, this shouldn't be too big a surprise.

There will be additional trailers coming over the next few weeks, according to VBLank, which means we could be seeing more of these Arcade Challenges being introduced. So what's next? High speed challenges with vehicles that require you to mow down as many people as possible? A potential battle against police using a special weapon or capability? The possibilities are certainly endless.

Shakedown Hawaii has been in development for some time, with VBlank trying to keep the same level of momentum as achieved with Retro City Rampage, but obviously with a 16-bit style of design this time around. The general goal, though, is still the same – complete missions, make sure the law enforcement doesn't get too much into your business, and, well, do things your way, because it always seems to work with an open-world environment such as this.

There will certainly be more stuff to destroy in the follow-up, although we still have yet to see the scope of the entire world you'll be able to travel through. If it's bigger than what Retro City Rampage had to offer, though, we're certainly in for some good times.

Shakedown Hawaii currently doesn't have a release date, but it's likely to arrive sometime this year for Nintendo Switch, as well as PlayStation 4, PlayStation Vita, Nintendo 3DS and PC. We'll let you know once an official release date rolls around.
