Altus has previously confirmed that a new Shin Megami Tensei game for the Nintendo Switch was in the works and since then, all has been a little quiet. Now a new trailer has dropped to tease what’s to come and what the next main installment into the Meg Ten franchise.

A new livestream by the team over at Altus brought the good word. Unfortunately, this is simply a teaser which means that fans of the Shin Megami series is still pretty much left in the dark for what’s to come, especially regarding the big features like story and progression. For now, the teaser is what fans can feast their eyes on and it does offer a little insight for what the fifth installment with bring.

According to the video above, we know that it will – at very least – partially take place in modern-day Tokyo as we follow two characters walking through a train station. It wouldn’t be a Shin Megami title if that’s all it was, come on! Very quickly the tunnel becomes infested with slain demons as the video cuts to a far more post-apocalyptic setting as we see those same two characters fight for their life.

This perfectly in-lines with previous hints we’ve been given about the upcoming installment. When the game was first teased, it showed off a completely devastated office building overran by similar demons as in the video above. Both inside looks have been in Japanese and Altus has not yet clarified any international plans for the next step. It wouldn’t be far-fetched to believe it will become localised, however; many of the more recent titles have all made their way to the EU and NA markets. At very worst, the Nintendo Switch is region-free; so it’s time to brush up on that Japanese.

There is not release date set at this time for Shin Megami Tensei V.
