An alien creature that will appear in Star Wars: The Last Jedi keeps drawing comparisons to a popular Pokemon.

Earlier today, we reported that the crystalline foxes first seen in The Last Jedi trailer are known as vulptices. The vulptex (that’s the singular version of its name) can be found on Crait, a planet previously used by the Rebel Alliance as a base during their war with the emperor.
While the vulptex’s name was inspired by “vuples,” the Latin word for fox, fans can’t help but compare these alien creatures to the cute and cuddly Vulpix, one of the Pokemon franchise’s more popular characters. It doesn’t help that Vulpix has an alternative “Alolan” form that has the same snow white complexion as the vulptex.
Due to their similar forms and names, the Internet have quickly paired Vulpix and vulptex together. Some fans are worried they won’t be able to keep their names straight…..

While others are wondering if the vulptex evolves if exposed to a certain type of item.

Other people just want to catch all the vulptex, presumably to have them battle the scourge of the galaxy: the Porgs.

There’s even a few people who think that these clearly silicon-based creatures are somehow made of ice because of their similarities to Vulpix.
Vultpex -> Alolan Vulpix -> Ice Type Fox Pokemen
Therefore Vultpex is a goddamn ice fox. Case closed.

We’ll get a closer look at the vulptex in The Last Jedi, which comes out next month. Vulpix can currently be found in Pokemon Ultra Sun, which is available in stores now.
