The Nintendo Switch has become a bonafide success over the past few months, with its millions of units shuffled out the door and a line-up of great games that has included Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and the recently released Splatoon 2. But believe it or not, there are a couple of folks that saw this system coming from long ago โ and watching their videos again and seeing how accurate they are with their predictions is a bit nuts.

Of course, considering the Wii U’s business model, it wasn’t probably rocket science that Nintendo was looking into a hybrid handheld/console gaming system, but it’s pretty neat to see these videos anyway, just to see what these guys have to say about the system. Let’s look at the two videos over the next couple of pages and see what they have to sayโฆ
The Wulff Den
First up is a video from a YouTube user by the name of The Wulff Den, which was uploaded back in January 2015 โ over two years ago. GamingBolt originally pointed out the video,ย in which the host predicts that Nintendo will attempt a piece of hardware that combines console and handheld design, along with the dock that players can use to connect the system to a TV through an HDMI connection. And, yep, he pretty much nailed it on the head, as the Switch utilizes this exact design. However, he made some interesting notes about the system, like how Nintendo’s main competitor is Apple, instead of, say, Microsoft and Sony. You can watch the full video above and see just how mind-blowingly close these predictions ended up being.
Hip Hop Gamer
But going even further than that, Gerard Williams, aka “The Hip Hop Gamer”, made his own prediction video, which posted back in March 2014. Even though his predictions aren’t as accurate as what The Wulff Den predicted, he noted that the company was looking into some kind of console/handheld format for the system. He did note that the system wasn’t confirmed, but it’s interesting how many details he came up with in regards to the video. Now, Hip Hop Gamer is an eclectic taste, and isn’t really for everyone, but it’s still great to see where his predictions go. Plus, we get to see the SupaBoy system in action, so that’s a plus for you retro fans.
The Nintendo Switch is available now.
